The Workshop

In this 2 hour Workshop you will learn how to design your own linocut repeat pattern and print onto a selection of papers to create your own wrapping paper or endpapers, with Izzy Williamson Print who has over a decade of linocut experience, from creating wallpaper prints for cocoon home, to hosting workshops at Toast and Thin Ice Press.  

Leaving with one or two sheets of printed paper, your linocut design to continue printing with at home and an understanding of how to create a seamless repeat pattern by hand.

Where

This Workshop takes place in the Lodge at Victoria in Sheffield, a restored studio space with warm woods and dead stock textiles, a cosy den and dream location to feel inspired.

Suitable for

This Workshop is suitable for all levels, you must be 16+  and comfortable to learn and hold a small linocut gauge (chisel, which is featured in the images)

What’s provided

All materials are provided, we ask you bring something to wear that you don’t mind getting paint on, an apron would be perfect. You may want to bring small found objects as inspiration or magazine tears of something you find inspiring, Izzy will bring a collection of nature inspired pieces to use as reference also.

Your Workshop Host

Hello! I'm Izzy- a York based printmaker specialising in linocut. Over the last 10 years, I have been building my personal practice as well as creating designs for textiles, book illustration, album artwork and branding. 

Deeply rooted in the natural world, I use playful imagery and a rich colour palette to explore themes of animism, dreams and everyday joys.

I also work as a Print Technician at Thin Ice Press: The York Centre for Print, where I run a weekly Lino Club and lots of workshops.
